Chunky Fingerless Mitts
Sizes: S (women), M (men), L (large)
Gauge: 4" = 15 stitches
Notions: 5mm and 6mm needles, 5mm crochet hook, 4 dpn(double pointed needles)
Yarn: 8ply Panda Acrylic (I wound off half to make two balls, and knitted using both balls at same time.
Using hook, make 14(16)(18) ch, to form start of tubular cast on*. If using conventional method, CO 27(31)(35)st, using 5mm needles. Continue in k1,p1 rib for 12-15 rows.
Transfer stitches to 6mm needles. Continue in st.st for 6(8)(10) rows. On the last row, k 13(15)(15). Using waste yarn of a different colour, k 4(5)(7). Transfer these st back to first needle and continue in working yarn. Continue in st.st. for 10(10)(10) rows.**
Using 5mm needles, knit in k1,p1 rib for 14 rows, cast off.
Thumb: Remove waste thread and transfer to dpn. Divide st. evenly between three needles, picking up two other stitches either side. With one ball of yarn, knit thumb in st.st. for 1 1/2 (2) (2 1/2)". Cast off.
Sew up side seam of glove. Turn inside out, fold down top section of rib. Sew loosely, weave in ends.
